When we are filming the priority is, obviously, filming. So I don’t always get an opportunity to record the costumes made.Sometimes clothes can be on the screen for seconds that have taken weeks to make, or they may not even be in shot at all…
So when actress and model, Bryony Roberts, suggested a costume photoshoot for fun, I thought it would be a good excuse to return to the 18th century and get some of those neglected outfits recorded! We also took the opportunity to record the layers of 18th century dress and this will appear in a future blog, but here is one of the images from the sequence – the tying of the garter:The shoes, silk stockings and jewellery are all purchases, as is the vintage belt buckle. The shoes Bryony is wearing are made by a company called American Duchess
We even found the time for a costume change. The lovely replica earrings worn by Bryony are made by a company called Dames a la Mode.We certainly turned some heads in Lincoln when we stepped outside the 18th century Assembly Rooms to photograph Bryony in the sunshine.
